Grace Haight Nursing Building

Grace Haight BuildingThe building was named in honor of Grace Woodman Haight (1863-1955), who came to Bob Jones College in 1930 as a teacher of missions and hymnology. Once a missionary to China and later to Egypt, Miss Haight was a devout Christian who spent hours praying for missionaries. She was the associate editor of The Southern Methodist, a staunchly orthodox paper, and The Fellowship News, a paper edited by Dr. Bob Jones Jr. In addition, she also authored Cathie Remembers, a book of poetry. Her generosity was limitless, from giving away articles of clothing to helping pay for the College's move from Florida to Tennessee. Grace Haight will long be remembered as a faithful servant and prayer warrior.

The Grace Haight Nursing Building, located between the Dixon-McKenzie Dining Common and the Georgia Creel Residence Hall, was among the first buildings erected on the campus in 1947. Originally known as Grace Haight Hall, it has served as a dormitory for academy students, faculty, and women students at various times. Today the Grace Haight Nursing Building houses the offices, classrooms, simulated laboratories, and learning resource center for the Division of Nursing.
