BJUOnline offers you the opportunity to take Institute of Biblical Education courses to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Courses from the IBE Division of Special Topics are not eligible for ACSI CEUs, but they are for standard CEUs.
What are CEUs?
CEUs are a uniform measurement for reporting your participation in non-degree educational activities to employers, licensing entities, accreditating bodies, etc.

Value of CEUs
You may use personal records and transcripts reported in CEUs in the following ways:
- Personal and professional development
- Documentation of continuing education activities for maintenance of teacher certification or other types of licensing
- Evidence of vocational growth and development
BJUOnline offers Standard CEUs and ACSI CEUs. Courses from the IBE Division of Special Topics are not eligible for ACSI CEUs, but they are for standard CEUs. Prior to requesting a CEU transcript or certificate, you must identify which type of CEU you would like to receive. The differences between these are defined in the chart below:
|Standard CEU||ACSI CEU|
|For anyone seeking a CEU||For members of the Association of Christian Schools International|
|CEU transcript||Certificate of completion|
|1 CEU = 10 hours of instruction||1 CEU = 6-11 hours of instruction|
|Decimal numbers can be given||Only whole numbers can be given|
Numerous employers, governing bodies and licensing agencies use the CEU to measure educational activities. The user groups include, but are not limited to, these broad categories:
- Professional and technical societies and associations
- Licensing boards
- Certification agencies
- Community organizations
Check with your organization to see if they accept CEUs.
Once you’ve completed a course for CEU credit, simply download the Professional Development Units Certificate/Transcript Request Form, fill it out and submit it to the Center for Distance Learning. There is a $10 processing fee for documenting CEU activity.
