Key Courses

Food Science In this class you will study the physical, chemical, and microbiological properties of food and food components.

Food Preparation This course is designed to teach you to select, store, prepare, and serve food products in the home.

Nutrition You will study in detail the nutrients, their functions and relationships in the body. You will learn the relation of food selection to health and will do diet planning.

Nutrient Metabolism This class includes a detailed study of macro and micro nutrients, and dietary counters, and a survey of research in controversial issues in nutrition.

Community Nutrition You will study the fundamentals of nutritional care and a variety of factors that affect food-related behaviors. You will survey a variety of community nutrition programs.

Foods & Nutrition Internship You will receive practical experience, on or off campus, in a foods or nutrition related subject. The internship is designed to provide maximum exposure to the foods and nutrition field, which you will find valuable in making career choices.
