Dr. Gene Chaffin was the editor of the Creation Research Society Quarterly from 1993-1999, and is currently the physics editor. His research interests include theoretical studies of possible variations in physical "constants," and he is a member of the RATE group, a group of six physicists and geologists who are committed to a young earth viewpoint and are seeking better models to explain radioisotope data and the age of the earth.
Dr. George Matzko has done research on pollen analysis of Hakatai Shale and other Grand Canyon rocks and on the rate of speleothem formation, and has co-authored several articles for the Creation Research Society Quarterly (CRSQ) on these subjects.
Dr. Joe Henson has been a long-time leader of the creation apologetics movement. He and former BJU Faculty members Emmett Williams and George Mulfinger participated in many Creation/Evolution debates across the country.
Dr. Ron Samec is active in creation-related astronomy research.
George Mulfinger, Emmett Williams, and Paul Wilt, three former faculty members, were authors of the book Design and Origins in Astronomy published by the Creation Research Society.
Dr. Stewart Custer, Bible faculty member and former planetarium director, wrote the book The Stars Speak: Astronomy in the Bible published by BJU Press in 1977.
The satellite course Sc 179 Seminar in Bible and Science is team-taught by the BJU Science faculty and is available from the Office of Extended Education.
