Political Science

The Political Science major provides preparation for Christian young people who are interested in the political process and the workings of government on all levels from the local to the international. This major offers a wide variety of courses dealing with the organization and functions of government, political theory, relationship of church and state, nature and operation of political parties, and methods of participation in the political process. An internship is available to provide upperclassmen the opportunity to observe the political process as temporary staff workers in an elected politician's office or that of a political organization.

National Government In this course you will learn about the United States government and its organization and function on the national level.

Political Theory This class examines the major political theories from ancient to modern times. You will study significant political theorists such as Aristotle, Plato, Rousseau, and Marx, and their beliefs about the ideal state.

Career Opportunities

Careers will be open to you as elected officials for local, state, and national government. You will have opportunities to work on teams and committees of such officials or prepare for a career in various government agencies at home or abroad, especially when you add a foreign language to your preparation.
