Exc 205–Introduction to Exceptional Children. History and current trends, mental retardation, learning disabilities, physical impairments, speech/language disorders, hearing impairments, visual impairments, giftedness, assessment, parents, and planning. Secondary Education
SE 321–Teaching Natural Science. Materials, methods, procedures, and related topics in the teaching of science in the high school. Also includes selection, evaluation, and use of educational software. Methods of teaching the students to read the literature in the subject are emphasized. Students will observe six demonstration classes in a local school. Identical to MSE 321. Three hours. Psychology/Counseling
Ps 200–General Psychology. The fundamental conditions and facts of conscious behavior, including the physiological basis of behavior, personality, emotions, feelings, sensations, learning, habit formation, memory, and perception. Three hours. (CD) Lecturer: Dr. G. Mazak
Ps 201–Educational Psychology. Psychology as applied to education: original tendencies; laws of learning; amount, rate, limit, conditions, spread and permanence of improvement; mental work and fatigue; research; and individual differences. Sequential and incremental formal structured clinical experiences in a school setting are included as part of this course. Three hours. (CD) Lecturer: Dr. Watson
Ps 300–Child Psychology. The physical, emotional, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual growth of the child from infancy to adolescence. Emphasis on the development of the child in relation to the school. Three hours. (CD) Lecturer: Dr. W. Gladin

Ps 421–Fundamentals of Counseling. Provides the foundation for a Biblical counseling ministry, including an accurate view of man, the doctrines of sufficiency and sanctification, the role of the counselor, and ethics. Ps 422–Practice of Counseling. Seeks to practically apply biblical counseling fundamentals to the typical counseling problems that people face. Employing the extensive use of case studies, attention will be given to serving in a biblical counseling ministry. Three hours. (DVD-R) Lecturer: Dr. G. Mazak

Ps 521–An Introduction to Biblical Counseling. Lays the foundation for a Biblical philosophy of counseling with special emphasis on the sufficiency of the Scriptures. Also introduces specific strategies for dealing with fear, anger, and for countering the current self-esteem issue. One hour. (DVD-R) Lecturer: Dr. J. Berg
Ps 522–Counseling Issues. Building on "An Introduction to Biblical Counseling," this course explores helping others with anxiety, sleep disorders, and depression issues. It covers working with counselees already on medication. Lecture materials supplemented with role-play case studies. One hour. (DVD-R) Lecturer: Dr. J. Berg
Ps 523–Crisis Counseling I. Presents Biblical strategies for handling the crisis of suicide; extensive coverage of the crisis of childhood sexual abuse; offers help in understanding the nature of abuse and biblical help for overcoming the effects of abuse. Examines the recovery/12 step movement from a biblical standpoint. One hour. (VHS) Lecturer: Dr. J. Berg
Ps 524–Crisis Counseling II. Looks at the crisis of life-dominating sins (addictions); presents a biblical view of sin; help for working with eating disorders, drugs, and alcohol. Also covers the crisis of immorality; teaches a biblical view of sex; gives help for dealing with pornography, homosexuality, adultery, etc. One hour. (VHS) Identical to CMn 534. Lecturer: Dr. J. Ps 525–Premarital Counseling. An overview of the pre-counseling process featuring God's goals for marriage, essential habits of Christian character as they pertain to marriage, biblical roles in marriage, communication and problem solving, finances, sexual relationships, and in-laws. Ps 526–Family Counseling. Presents a strategy for helping family members come to reconciliation. Discusses an extended case study which teaches how to "unpack" the complex issues often involved in family problems. Instruction is also offered for the growing problem of wife abuse and provides biblical answers for helping both the wife and the abusing husband. One hour. (VHS) Identical to CMn 536.
