About Jerry

Dr. Priest holds the degreess of B.A. in Bible and Interpretative Speech, the M.Div., and the Ph.D. in Church History from Bob Jones University. He has also taken advanced courses at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Wake Forest University. After considerable teaching experience in other institutions (Clearwater Christian College, Piedmont International University, and Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary), Dr. Priest accepted the position at Bob Jones University of Adjunct Professor in Historical Theology in 2011. He has also served as either part time or adjunct professor at four other schools. For twenty-eight years, he was chaplain in the US Army National Guard and is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. He holds the rank of lieutenant colonel. Dr. Priest has served as pastor and interim pastor of numerous churches. He has written two books and several chapters for others, along with various articles for religious periodicals and seminary journals. He has conducted church history tours in Europe and has taught courses in historical theology in other parts of the world, including Canada, Africa, India, and the South Pacific.

Dr. Priest believes that ministerial vocation demands a thorough preparation in biblical, theological, historical, and practical disciplines that only a seminary education can provide. To that end he engages students both in and outside of the classroom. He is actively serving his local church as chaplain of an adult fellowship and conducts services at a local rescue mission. He enjoys traveling, fishing, and hiking. He is married and has two children and six grandchildren.
