Success of Liberal Arts

Liberal arts education prepares the individual to succeed. By introducing a student to a broad range of ideas in multiple subject areas, liberal arts studies challenge him to analyze why an idea is or is not valuable.

Liberal arts studies also develop a student’s ability to communicate orally and in writing. This dynamic process influences students to construct models for discerning and applying truth in various situations.

The goal of the liberal arts is to produce a graduate who can take any type of problem, analyze it, solve it and then communicate his findings to others. Such a graduate is equipped to survive in the ever-changing job market.

Benefits of Liberal Arts

The course structure of liberal arts also benefits the individual. In a liberal arts curriculum, freshman classes are very similar for all majors. Few high school seniors feel confident choosing a career path, and it is not uncommon for college students to change majors several times. The liberal arts system allows a student to take a broad range of courses, determine his direction, perhaps change his major and still graduate on time.

College graduates often end up in careers different from the ones for which they studied. Liberal arts education prepares a student to excel not only in his first career but also in a second, third or fourth.
