Spiritual Growth
Although students often complain about English and foreign language requirements, liberal arts language studies can greatly enhance the Christian’s spiritual growth by giving him a better understanding of the language of Scripture.
God created language so that He could communicate with man. He reveals Himself and His work in the 66 books of the Bible, and He invites people to know Him through His Word.
Communication Development
The communication focus of liberal arts education can help prepare a Christian to serve the Lord.
God has ordained His people to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13–16), and this mission often requires communication. Christians are to “exhort one another daily” (Hebrews 3:13), “teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19), “and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15).
A liberal arts education helps the Christian obey each of these commands.
