What will I study?

As part of the Division of Communication, the Department of Cinema draws upon the rich history of Unusual Films to produce Christlike character and professional excellence in our students as they learn the art, the craft and the Christian responsibility of the cinematic arts in order to produce their own cinematic work. Teaching the artistic, technical and storytelling aspects of filmmaking begins in the classroom and is enhanced through hands-on instruction while working alongside Christian professionals in the field.

Our graduates are represented in a variety of related fields including:

  • Working with the aerospace industry
  • Successfully setting up still photography firms
  • Photography directing for leading industrial firms
  • Corporate media departments
  • Advertising (through film, video, and multi-image)
  • Professional studio photography
  • Working with the Atomic Energy Commission
  • Working with NASA
  • Working with the U.S. Public Health Service
  • Independent business communication specialists
  • Video or audiovisual managers for Christian missions and other ministries
  • Independent filmmakers in Christian film production and the business world

Students can network with a variety of employers through our online placement service, CareerCentral. A multitude of employment opportunities are posted annually. In addition, over 60 businesses and 150 Christian schools/mission boards/Christian organizations come on campus to recruit students in a variety of majors through on-campus interviews and job/ministry fairs. The Career Services office also helps students by holding seminars on resume preparation and interview techniques.
