Business Administration

Bachelor of Science

The Human Resources track of Business Administration is recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management.

Overview

Business is a calling for Christians, not just a way to earn a living. That’s why you’ll learn to be business savvy in a way that honors God and benefits you. This program will equip you with the biblical foundation needed to excel in business as you explore topics such as personal integrity and scriptural business ethics.

You’ll also learn how to steward resources and improve your communication skills with co-workers and clients. And you’ll understand the basics of economics and business law in the United States and can pursue both international business and study abroad opportunities. At BJU you’ll learn how to glorify God and lead at work, in your family, church and community.

Program

You’ll be equipped to master business concepts and practices through the basics of business theory within a biblical worldview. Many courses include case studies that’ll expose you to various real-world situations and challenge you to analyze them through the lens of Scripture. You’ll also receive a broader understanding of your field through business grads who share their insights into current trends and markets periodically in your classes.

You can personalize your program with courses that fit your desired career. Choose from marketing, finance, entrepreneurship and human resources tracks, or add a business minor to prepare well for other fields.

BJU’s business program provides valuable hands-on experience. You’ll work through similar commercial business simulations that Fortune 500 firms use to teach and assess key knowledge and skills. And through internships in local, regional and national firms, you’ll observe firsthand how the business world works so you can prepare for God’s plan for your life.

BJU Core

In the business world adapting to change is essential to success. Through courses in art, history and science, you’ll know how to build common ground and rapport with future contacts, speak with confidence and thrive in any job. Your Bible courses will teach you how to apply truth to life and business practices and effectively communicate your testimony for Christ.

Electives

Language, graphic design or history courses often prepare students for their business careers. If you’re unsure about choosing electives, our business faculty will help you find ones that supplement your business degree best.

Tracks

Finance

A finance focus prepares you to manage investments in inventory, and fixed and financial assets for companies and clients. You’ll also learn how they raise, invest and earn capital in different financial markets. This track will qualify you for jobs in various business disciplines, teach you about the creation of new businesses and give insight into managing corporate finance departments, financial institutions and financial services.

Human Resource Management

A human resource management focus gives you the basis for understanding business and prepares you for jobs in HR, and further business or grad studies. This track covers a wide range of skills such as training and development, recruiting, compensation and benefits, employee relations, leadership, communication and decision-making.

The Society for Human Resource Management recognizes our HR management track.

Marketing

A marketing focus prepares you for jobs in sales, retailing, market research, or even for establishing and operating your own business. You’ll learn the skills and information needed for advancement in a corporate structure, or for marketing management at the local, national or international level.

Entrepreneurship

An entrepreneurship focus prepares you to lead in new ventures, existing businesses, not-for-profits, churches and missions. You’ll apply finance and marketing principles in consulting projects and create high growth potential ventures. UBA forum

University Business Association

In the University Business Association (UBA), you’ll interact in forum setting with successful Christian business professionals who’ve used their work for ministry and pointing others to Jesus. Strengthen your leadership skills by joining the Executive Council, a student-led, UBA group that organizes UBA events, including a yearly Bible Conference offering fundraiser.

Community Service Council

Because community involvement enriches the BJU experience, many business students volunteer for outreach with the Community Service Council (CSC). This student-led organization connects you to local businesses and communities and oversees events such as cleaning up the Greenville Zoo and local parks, sponsoring an on-campus blood drive and collecting funds for charitable organizations.
