Aviation – General Information
The University operates a flight training school and an aviation mechanic school at the Greenville Downtown
Airport just three miles from the main campus. Our program offers majors in Business and Commercial
Aviation, Missionary Aviation, Aircraft Maintenance, and Aviation Management. Students not majoring in
aviation may also take flight courses as electives.
The program's Christian emphasis helps us to produce pilots and mechanics who can serve the Lord in any field of service that they choose. Graduates have served effectively in commercial aviation and missionary aviation with the initial skills gained during their training.
The upstate South Carolina geographic area offers varied flying environments with flat, hilly, and mountainous terrain all nearby. Students receive seasonal weather experiences without severe weather extremes. The area provides a good variety of airports, from small grass runways, airports with instrument landing capabilities, to high-density airports.
Flight Instruction is provided for Private, Instrument, and Commercial Pilot training, and multi-engine flying. Classroom instruction, individual ground instruction, videos, and other training materials are provided for flight courses. Instrument training incorporates simulators, and advanced training includes multiengine simulator training with visuals.
University aircraft are maintained to high standards with regular inspections and excellent maintenance. Flight instructors have experience ranging from military to missionary flying. Mechanic instructors have extensive maintenance experience as well. FAA designated examiners are on staff for the issuance of FAA Pilot and Mechanic Certificates.
