Missionary Preparation

Missionary Preparation

"We would like to have more missionary candidates from the School of Applied Studies come to serve with our board. The graduates we have seen from that program not only know how to get the job done on the mission field, but also show a constant zeal to reach the lost for Christ." The wording varies, but this repeated observation from several mission board leaders has been regularly the same. Those who are responsible for replacing effective workers on the mission fields of the world appreciate the SAS product.

Should the Lord lead you to come to the School of Applied Studies for your training, you, too, will learn from teachers who are experienced and currently active in the Lord's work. Bible study here will equip you with broad Scriptural knowledge and will challenge you to become more like Christ in your life. You will be taught how to share God's Word with others. First-hand involvement in different types of ministry throughout your three years, coupled with practical instruction in all the core courses required for effective Christian service, makes it possible for you to have a quality of missionary training that is likely unparalleled.

We urge you to seize this opportunity to add to your future ministry for the Lord the same "know-how" and spiritual zeal that has captured the attention of so many Christian leaders around the world.

Key Courses

Biblical Missions In this class you will learn the Scriptural principles, methods, and motives underlying effective missionary endeavor. You will also study the opportunities and personal qualifications of the missionary candidate. This course is taught by a man who has taken summer mission teams to the field for several years and has been involved in other Christian ministries.

Cults This course includes the teaching and history of those religious groups which hold doctrines contrary to Fundamental Christianity, including Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists, Seventh-day Adventists, and Muslims.

Preparation for Service/Evangelism In the first 7 weeks you will look at the devotional life, prayer life, and spiritual qualifications for the ministry. The last 7 weeks will cover topics such as the duty and privilege of soul winning; Christ the Master evangelist; and early church evangelism in Acts.
