Key Courses
Instructional Technology This class will give you the opportunity to find out the latest in computer and educational technology. It will help you in the selection of computer hardware and educational software for your classroom. Through hands-on lab training, you will learn how to integrate educational technology into the normal classroom setting.
Teaching Natural Science In this class you will learn how to prepare lessons and meaningful demonstrations (experiments). You will also study the materials, methods, and procedures for teaching science and compile a list of resource materials to which you will be able to refer your students.
General Biology This course will give you the basics to understanding currently popular topics in biology, such as genetic engineering, cancer research, AIDS, etc. You will also study a proper Christian philosophy of science, origins, the scientific method, the basic chemistry of biology, the characteristics of living things, the limitations of science, and an introduction to the major topics of cell biology.
Directed Teaching Here you will have a chance to "try your wings" by teaching under the supervision of an experienced teacher. You will begin gradually and work into handling a teacher's normal load.
Career Opportunities
Career fields open to you will include:
- Teaching science
- Administrating a Christian school
- Graduate School (education or science)
- Public relations (for a biological science or high technology company)
- Medical school
- Technology
- Business
- Research and development
There is a wide open door of opportunity for you. It is not abnormal for us to receive up to 100 requests per year from Christian schools for science teachers, and then graduate only five science education/biology education majors. That could theoretically give you about 20 opportunities to choose from when you graduate, just among the possibilities in Christian schools.
