Ed Dunbar
Educational background: B.Mus., Henderson State University; M.M., D.M.A., Louisiana State University; additional study at the Salem (N.C.) Organ Academy. Hometown: Altheimer, Arkansas Membership: The American Guild of Organists, served as secretary, sub-dean and dean in chapters in Arkansas, Louisiana, and South Carolina; Music Teachers National Association; Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia; Pi Kappa Lambda. Academic Area: chairman of the Division of Music, head of the organ department, university organist, music theory, applied organ, organ pedagogy, organ literature, and service playing. Performances and Publications: recent solo performance with the Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra; recitals and sacred concerts in North Carolina, Virginia, Illinois, South Carolina, New Jersey, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Ohio; choral and instrumental pieces published by SoundForth; served as chairman of the committee and chief editor for the University Hymnal; was also an editor of Hymns of Grace and Glory Hobbies: gardening and travel with my family Family: wife, Pam, also on the music faculty, and three daughters: Katie (deceased), Kara, and Analeisa Ministry: campus organist, organist at Faith Free Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC, where he also serves as an elder Mission statement: We have a tremendous opportunity to work with talented young people from around the world. Daniel Forrest, Jr.
Educational background: B.Mus., M.Mus., Bob Jones University; D.M.A., University of Kansas Hometown: Breesport, New York Academic Area: theory and composition Recent Performances and Publications: catalog of church music and concert music include choral, instrumental, chamber, orchestral, and wind band works; choral works are published with numerous publishers, including Hal Leonard, Beckenhorst Press, and Hinshaw Music, with whom he has his own choral series, “The Music of Dan Forrest”; works have received numerous awards and distinctions, and have been performed in venues across the country including Carnegie Hall; “in paradisum...”, an 11-minute work for chorus and wind band, was premiered at the 2008 BJU Commencement Concert Family: wife, Addy, and two young children Mission Statement: Can be summed up in a few verses of Scripture: “What dost thou have, that thou didst not receive?” “The Lord has done great things for us, whereof we are glad.” Yet, “To whom much is given, much is required.” I need God’s grace to redeem the time by wisely stewarding what He has given me, and accomplishing whatever He wants of me. |

Dwight Gustafson

Tennessee Temple University; additional study at the Aspen School of Music; student of John Boda, Richard Burgin, Carlisle Floyd, Elena Nikolaidi, and Izler Solomon. Hometown: Seattle, Washington Academic Area: dean emeritus of the School of Fine Arts; music history, composition, conducting, music director of the University Symphony Orchestra. Memberships: American Choral Directors Association, Southeastern Composers League, A.S.C.A.P. Publications: numerous choral and instrumental compositions published by Presser, Shawnee Press, Hinshaw Music, Alfred, SoundForth, and Pinner Publications; recently received a commission from the Williamsburg (Va.) Symphonia commemorating the 300th anniversary of the city of Williamsburg. Recent performances: conducted the premier of his new composition Words of Passion and Resurrection for chorus, orchestra and narrator at the 2002 BJU Commencement Concert; conducted the Mendelssohn's oratorio Elijah in the fall of 2002; in frequent demand as a festival orchestra conductor and choral clinician. Hobbies: travel, gardening Family: wife, Gwen, a music faculty member for many years, and four children: Dianne Pinner (also on the music faculty), David, Donna Pavluk, and Gale Manor. Mark Parker
Educational background: B.A., Bob Jones University; M.A., Eastman School of Music; Ph.D., University of North Texas. Hometown: Davisburg, Michigan Membership: Music Theory Southeast Academic Area: head of the music technology department; music theory; applied piano. Publications: numerous published arrangements with SoundForth, C&L Enterprises, and Jantz Music Publications. Hobbies: licensed journeyman electrician, hiking, and amateur radio (license AF4LV), foreign languages (especially French), music analysis, jogging, reading. Family: wife, Joan, also a member of the piano faculty, and three girls: Emily, Natalie, and Tessa Ministry: delete and say: Greenville Christian Fellowship (music director); mission trips to Jamaica, Canada and Europe Mission statement: My mission is to instill by example and precept a desire to serve and love God with the whole heart and mind while serving others. Membership: Crescent Music Club Academic Area: music theory, arranging, hymn playing, orchestration, and music technology Performances and Publications: Numerous sacred arrangements published by SoundForth, Beckenhorst, and Jantz Music; a sacred recording, Our Great Savior, featuring arrangements for piano and orchestra; film scores for Unusual Films; edited Hymns of Grace and Glory, a hymnal recently released by Ambassador-Emerald. Hobbies: reading theology, and studying the lives of Christian ministers, reformers, missionaries and musicians Family: husband, Bill Ministry: pianist at Faith Free Presbyterian Church, yearly speaker at the Wilds Music Conference, currently writing music for several Christian film projects. Mission statement: The vision for my ministry here at BJU is to love and fear my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ with all of my heart, and to serve Him faithfully with all of my being.
