Master of Arts in Illustration
As a graduate student in the Master of Arts degree program in Illustration at Bob Jones University, you will enjoy a wholesome artistic environment with the students and faculty in the Division of Art. You will be guided through a series of courses planned for your development as an illustrator. While there is a structured program with required courses, the arrangement is to promote independent study and personal growth. Although the program was originated to emphasize illustration, students have successfully concentrated in drawing and painting, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, and fiber arts as well.

Key Courses
Seminar in Contemporary Art This elective class is a study of the major artists and art movements in Western art from the late eighteenth century to contemporary times. The course is made up of slide lecture/discussion sessions which are 50 minutes each and meet three times a week for one semester.
Graduate Illustration This course provides a professional level of training for illustrators in the techniques, style, and dynamics of visual storytelling.
History of Graphic Arts This class is an introductory overview of the development of graphic imagery, design, and printing from the Gutenberg era to the present age of computer graphics.
Graduate Art Studio In this course you will study with one professor who will advise, give suggestions, offer encouragement, and otherwise guide your progress in an independent study in your chosen field of emphasis.

Most of the M.A. graduates now find themselves in one of the following areas: their own studios; artists/teachers in public school systems, junior colleges, and colleges; or illustrators and graphic designers in ad agencies and publishing houses.
