The master's degree in Broadcast Management is designed for Christian students who want to serve the Lord effectively as a manager or executive in domestic radio and television stations, networks, broadcast ministries, and missionary broadcasting. Special emphasis is given to understanding the structures and philosophies of the Christian and secular broadcasting industries.

Key Courses

Broadcast Management This class surveys the management issues most commonly encountered in Christian broadcasting and its three settings: the broadcast ministry, broadcast network, and broadcast station.

History of Radio and Television Through guided research, in this elective class you will learn the history of broadcasting and its effects upon contemporary trends and upon the development of new media.

Broadcast Management Systems Analysis Under personal supervision of the faculty and a broadcast executive, you will analyze a management problem or process in a broadcast facility and will develop manuals, forms, computer programs, etc., to implement recommended improvements.

Broadcast Law In this course you will become familiar with the basic regulations governing the broadcast industry and learn, through case studies, about forces that shape the development of broadcast policy.

Business electives such as Management Policies, Salesmanship, and Marketing Research will prepare you for the tasks of managing a broadcast ministry or facility.

Career Opportunities

The Radio/Television Department is a member of professional broadcasting and educational organizations which provide assistance with job placement and offer scholarships. Graduates work in radio and television networks, stations, and ministries all over America, and in foreign countries as well. Several are founders and operators of national and regional networks, while others have pioneered missionary broadcast stations on other continents. Some are producers and directors of radio and television programs heard on hundreds of stations around the world. Others are news anchors, photographers, reporters, writers, editors, and commentators in the U.S. Still others are media owners/executives and business consultants, advertising agency account executives, creative directors, owners of public relation firms, political consultants, and producers of instructional videotapes and audio presentations. Many of these graduates have assisted seniors in securing their first jobs.
