Handbell Choir History
Music Performance Groups | Choir | Director | History
The Bob Jones University Handbell Choir program began in 1993 with one choir playing on three octaves of Malmark handbells. Now in its twelfth year, the program has grown to two auditioned choirs playing on five and a half octaves of handbells and five octaves of handchimes. We have also acquired four of the aluminum bass bells.
The choirs play on campus each year for campus church and a recital. They have played in several area churches and schools, presenting a wide musical program for the events.
Every two years, the concert handbell choir tours for one week out of the school year. They have played in churches and schools from Maine to Florida and as far west as Minnesota and Iowa.
There are two compact disc recordings available, produced by the concert handbell choir. Glorious Things is a sacred music recording, and Joy to the World is a Christmas recording.
