Recent Art Awards

At Art in the Park sponsored by Upstate Visual Arts here in Greenville, Mr. Michael Slattery of the studio faculty and grad student Matt Moreau won merit awards.

At the State Fair in Columbia, senior Danielle Vasso won first in amateur printmaking. Christy Price Marshall and Melissa Muth, both juniors, won second and third in amateur printmaking. In amateur drawing, senior Ethan Mongin won first and Laura Smith, also a senior, won third. In amateur painting, Heather Davenport and Megan Bogert, both juniors, won second and third. In the professional division, Mr. Slattery won first in drawing and third in printmaking. Mr. Terry Davenport won two merit awards.

At the Piedmont Interstate Fair in Spartanburg, students and faculty won a total of 22 awards in both the amateur and professional divisions. Students winning first-place awards in the amateur divisions were Danielle Vasso, Andrea Herbster, and Laura Smith. In the professional division, Miss Rebecca Primm, Mr. John Roberts, and Mr. Michael Slattery won first-place awards.

Mr. Slattery also won awards recently at the Miniature Painters, Sculptors, and Engravers Society of Washington, D.C., annual exhibition; the Miniature Arts Society of Florida annual exhibition in Clearwater; and The South Carolina Watercolor Society annual exhibition in Columbia. One of his works was also included in its “top 100” exhibition at the Arts for the Parks exhibition in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The Division of Art welcomes two new Graduate Assistants:
