Over the past ten years the RTV Department has produced more than 130 graduates. RTV majors have obtained employment in both local and network radio and television, and in broadcast ministries, audio and video production facilities, and advertising agencies. Positions have included television news anchors, reporters, sportscasters, and videographers; radio news reporters, announcers, and production assistants; and sales and marketing professionals.
Here are some things our graduates are saying concerning the training they received from the Radio and Television Broadcasting department of Bob Jones University:
"The RTV program gave me a good overall understanding of how a television and radio station runs, while WBJU gave me valuable on-air experience."
– Andrew Leuthold ('89), Local Traffic Coordinator (WXIA-TV — Atlanta, GA)"The equipment in the RTV program is excellent. Many are the exact pieces of equipment I now use every day."
– Matthew Martens ('96), Engineer/Photographer (WBNS-TV — Columbus, OH)"The range of experiences that I received, from production to sales, provided the right foundation to enter the industry."
– Mark Sanger ('96), Affiliates and Sales Manager (Truth Broadcasting — Winston-Salem, NC)"I received high-quality training in all phases of broadcasting, and a vision to reach the world through broadcasting."
– Stuart Epperson, Sr. ('57), (Chairman, Salem Communications Corp., which owns 80 stations)"I see graduates all the time from big schools who don't even know how to edit tape. At BJU, students do that from their freshman year."
– Bob Radford ('98), Sports Director (WHSV-TV — Harrisonburg, VA)"You don't just watch the faculty operate the equipment. They show you how to do it yourself."
– Casey Wren ('98, '00), Broadcast Engineer (Bloomberg Television — New York, NY)
