1980s
The early '80s saw a spurt in RTV activity. RTV 6 was double decked and RTV 6a's multi-track equipment and classroom were built. We bought our first video tape editor, first camcorders, and first CD player.
It was in the '80s that the RTV students began selling ads in the Calendar of Events and The Collegian under the umbrella of Campus Media.
More importantly, the RTV Department began sending mission teams to Antigua, then Carriacou, and other missionary broadcasting facilities.
1990s
In the '90s, RTV facilities were expanded when the Broadcast Engineering Department moved from the Fine Arts building to the new Science building addition. WBJU, the student-run campus radio station, became WBJU-FM stereo, and WBJU-TV news began cable-casting to the campus.
On August 18, 1999, the Department of Radio and Television Broadcasting moved into their new facilities located in the new Dwight Gustafson Fine Arts Center. The new RTV Department facilities include classrooms, control rooms, radio studios, broadcast classrooms, and a state-of-the-art television studio. Also housed in the new department are the WBJU Radio and TV stations, which are student-operated.
