Key Courses
Hermeneutics This course will provide you with a study of the principles of Bible interpretation, including the history of interpretation; historical, grammatical, literary, and theological interpretation; issues related to the various kinds of biblical material (narrative, wisdom, prophetic, didactic); and figures of speech, types, etc.
Biblical Themes This is a course in which you will deal with the fundamental doctrines of Christianity as they are unfolded in Scripture, with attention given to the relationship of these doctrines to the central theme and messages of the Bible. You will particularly study timely doctrinal questions such as ecclesiastical and personal separation; and the inspiration, preservation, inerrancy, and authenticity of the Word of God.
The Biblical Minister Various facets of ministerial life and work are examined: the man himself, the ministry he performs, the message he preaches, and his methods and motives.
Career Opportunities
The Office of Extension Ministries assists qualified BJU alumni and current students nearing graduation with church ministry opportunities. Many churches contact this office in search of prospective candidates for the positions of pastor, assistant pastor, youth pastor, and music director. A personal profile may be obtained from the office and related issues may be discussed with the Director of Ministerial Training. Pastors, camp directors, mission board directors, and other recruiters often visit the campus to find personnel for their ministries.
