The Youth Ministries major is designed to prepare students for various church ministries that focus on ministering to the spiritual needs of young people. Of the 128 semester hours required for the degree, over half the hours are devoted directly to Christian service studies and skills.

Key Courses

Youth Ministries Block A set of five classes dealing with philosophy of youth work, youth pastor, contemporary issues, evangelism & discipleship, and youth programs.

Adolescent Psychology Your study in this course will cover the physical, emotional, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual growth of the child from pre-adolescence to maturity.

Hermeneutics This course will provide you with a study of the principles of Bible interpretation, including the history of interpretation; historical, grammatical, literary, and theological interpretation; issues related to the various kinds of biblical material (narrative, wisdom, prophetic, didactic); and figures of speech, types, etc.

Career Opportunities

Pastors, camp directors, mission board directors, and other recruiters often visit the campus to find personnel for their ministries. Graduates can be found serving the Lord in a wide variety of fields—from teaching to working on the mission field.
