Apply for Financial Aid
1. Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
We ask you to file your FAFSA regardless of whether or not you think you will qualify for federal aid. It is to your advantage to file the FAFSA to see what other institutional, state and federal funding you might qualify for.
Timing: Prior to March 1 using your latest tax information. If your federal taxes will not be filed until after March 1, you may complete the FAFSA using estimated information.
What if I feel the FAFSA doesn’t reflect my true financial situation?
2. Complete application to BJU
Financial award letters are sent to students who have applied and been admitted.
- If you haven’t applied to BJU yet, now is a good time to do so. It’s easy to apply to BJU.
- If you have submitted your application form, be sure to complete the items listed on your online admissions checksheet.
Timing: As early as end of high school junior year
3. Receive your financial award letter
Once you have been admitted to BJU and completed your FAFSA report, we will review your eligibility for financial aid.
Timing:
- If you have completed the FAFSA by March 1 and have been admitted to BJU, you will be mailed your award letter on March 15.
- If you complete the FAFSA or are admitted after March 1, you will be sent an award letter as soon as your eligibility for financial aid has been reviewed.
Grants & Scholarships
Grants and scholarships never need to be paid back and are funds awarded to qualifying students based on merit or need.
Loans
Loans are required to be paid back. Carefully consider future payments as you look into loan options. Interest will quickly add up, so find loans with low interest rates.
Student Work Program
The Student Work Program enables you to earn money working on campus during the school year.
