Activities
Relaxing on campus
You’re done with class and sorting laundry in your room just doesn’t sound appealing. So, what’s there to do?
From art and books to games and sports to food, plays and music, you’ll find yourself with plenty of options.
Art
Maybe an art gallery isn’t where you’d normally go if you had some free time, but once you see the Museum & Gallery at BJU, you’ll change your mind. The Collection features over 400 paintings in over 25 rooms, in addition to a collection of Hebrew, Roman and Egyptian artifacts.
Depending on the time of year, the upper floor of the Sargent Art Building features student and faculty art displays, including paintings, pottery, textiles and graphic design work.
Books
Maybe you associate a library with monotonous studying through tall, dusty stacks of books, but the wide selection of fiction, biographies, reference and children’s books will show you a brighter side. Also, the library provides 3 computer labs and multiple email and library search stations throughout the building. In the periodical room, you’ll find regional and national daily newspapers, and more than 25 different magazines including Time, Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report.
In addition to books and reference materials, the library also features the Memorabilia Room, a whimsical collection of BJU artifacts; and the Jerusalem Chambers, a replica of a Westminster Abbey room that houses a collection of antique Bibles.
Games
The Edwards Activity Room houses ping pong, foosball and pool tables and a variety of other games. It’s the perfect place to unwind with friends or get riled up if you’re the competitive type.
Sports
The intramural sports program is organized by literary society, and there’s usually some sort of game going on, from softball, tennis and basketball to soccer and volleyball, and even sports like ping pong and water polo. All sports games are free for students, and even if you don’t like sports, chances are your friends will be there.
Drama
Throughout the semester, students and faculty put on play and speech recitals for degree requirements. These recitals are open to all students, and you can enjoy a quality dramatic production in a variety of genres.

Music
What’s a euphonium? Or chamber music? And why are there so many choirs? People around here love to make music, and you get to reap the benefits. From individual student recitals in voice and instruments, to woodwinds or strings concerts, to orchestra and bands performances, to any of the 8 choirs’ concerts, you’ll have a variety of vocal and instrumental performances to choose from.

Snack Shop
Try the Snack Shop for burgers, fries and hot subs, in addition to hundreds of other items. The Snack Shop also features a section called Great Awakenings, which serves coffee and specialty drinks. In the Sweet Shop, you’ll find Edy’s ice cream, and in the back, you’ll find a large-screen TV. If you’re thirsty, the Snack Shop offers more than 100 beverage options.
Fast Break
The Fast Break, located in the Davis Field House, serves deli sandwiches and subs as well as hot paninis and fruit smoothies, which you can enjoy at one of the several tables overlooking the gym area. Depending on the season, you might be able to catch a basketball or volleyball game on the main court.
Cuppa Jones
Of course, how will you make it through college without a daily (or multiple- times-a-day) dosage of caffeine? Cuppa Jones, located right outside the Mack Library, offers brewed coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, teas and other hot and cold drinks for coffee and non-coffee drinkers alike, which you can order to go or enjoy in Cuppa Jones’ modern industrial atmosphere, complete with raw bricks and exposed pipes.
Lastly, if you’re into eating and surfing (the web, that is) at the same time, you’ll appreciate the WiFi connections at the Snack Shop, Fast Break and Cuppa Jones.
