Change Through Society

Caroline Lee – Class of '10

I’ve seen God use my society to change me during my time at Bob Jones. For me, society was a way to get involved in something bigger than myself. It sometimes took work, and often times doing things I wouldn’t have always chosen to do, but the end result was ministering and encouraging the girls in society, and that’s something we, as Christians, should be doing for the rest of our lives.

He gave me good, godly friends who encouraged me in my walk with God. I learned to be sensitive to the needs of others, and to be edifying and uplifting at times when I felt like being selfish. Along with all the spiritual growth, I just had fun being crazy with a bunch of girls as we took a break from our studies and stress, and gathered in a room for Friday society meeting, Wednesday night prayer meeting, or Sunday school.

I realized that God had a purpose and plan in placing me in my society, and so I started growing right where He planted me. I would not trade my society or the girls in it for any other, and I’m grateful that God is working in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure as we minister together in society and in life.
