SchoolCast
Campus Telecommunications has given our precollege schools a dedicated number to use for emergency notifications for those of you who work on campus and have a campus extension. We have updated the current SchoolCast database to use the new number--(864) 770-1397. This number will only work in conjunction with the emergency notification system, so please do not use this number for any other purpose. If you currently have 242-5100 or 370-1800 listed under your name in the SchoolCast system, it has been changed to the new number. If you need to add or replace a campus extension, please remember to use 770-1397 before the extension. Using the "regular" switchboard numbers (242-5100 or 370-1800) will tie up the switchboard and result in a delay in your notification. Please call the school office if you have any questions.
Shepherd's Gate Thanksgiving Paper Drive
It is time for our annual paper drive for Shepherd's Gate, a shelter for women and children located just across the street from the BJU campus.
Shepherd's Gate strives to help the women who come there to get back to the point where they can live on their own again. The shelter helps them find jobs, start saving money, and eventually get their own apartments. The most important opportunity for these women is attending chapel three times a day. During this time they are pointed to Christ as the only Comforter and Helper.
The BJA paper drive is a great help to Shepherd's Gate. Last year we were able to supply enough paper products to last them until August. That's almost a year's worth! Although those items may seem small to us, what we are able to provide will meet a need for the women who are served by this ministry. Barbara, Shepherd's Gate's receptionist, told us about a time when they had run out of paper products and had asked the women to pray. The next day two buses and a truck pulled in with the Academy's donations. In Barbara's words, "The ladies see it come in, and they realize that the Lord supplies it."
We are asking the student body to bring the following items:
| Class | Item |
| Freshmen | Napkins |
| Sophomores | Tissues |
| Juniors | Paper Towels |
| Seniors | Toilet Paper |
Please have your child bring a donation on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, November 19-21.
