School History

In 1970, Dr. Bob Jones Jr. announced to the faculty, staff, and students that Bob Jones University was going to open an elementary school in the fall of 1971. Miss Melva Heintz was contacted about serving as the principal and accepted the job. She continued to serve the Lord in this capacity until she became principal emerita in 1994.

The Elementary School began its first year using the entire first floor of one of the University's girls' dormitories for classrooms. The school had two sections of grade one and one section each of grades two and three. Over the years the Lord has blessed, and now the school consists of four buildings: the Beginnings Center, the Primary Center, the Main Building, and the Fine Arts Center. There are five sections each of grades K5 - 6 and three sections of K4.
