Vespers
The Vesper service is probably the best known of all religious services of Bob Jones University. It presents
faculty and students of the Divisions of Speech and Music in a sacred program. Occasionally, a religious
drama is presented by the Division of Speech. These services, both devotional and cultural, attract many
visitors and are typically held twice a month on Sundays during the school year.
Living Gallery is a special presentation of sacred music, drama, and living art, all of which focuses on Christ and His resurrection. The production is presented by BJU Museum & Gallery on BJU campus and serves as the Easter Vespers.
Vesper Schedule
September 21
The Presentation — 2:30 p.m., Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium
As one character in this original drama muses, “We never think what it will be like to stand before our
Creator and give an account of our days, do we?” This vesper play is a timely answer to that probing
question. With humor and pathos Douglas faces the daunting prospect of preparing the formal “presentation”
of his life—as he lived it.
October 19
Rejoice with Song — 2:30 p.m., Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium
Prepare your hearts for a time of worship during this sacred concert featuring the University Wind Band.
February 15
My Portion Forever — 2:30 p.m., Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium
The psalmist writes, “Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?” Do we
believe that God is always present and is all around us as we live and work? Most importantly, are we
availing ourselves of His ever present help? This program will focus on God’s nearness to us and our nearness
to Him, and will urge us to say with the psalmist, He is “my portion forever.”
March 8
Hymn Fest — 2:30 p.m., Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium
Come receive a blessing from this sacred concert featuring the University’s musical groups.
