Evaluation and Testing Philosophies that Combat Grade Inflation

Speaker:
Mr. William Pinkston

Subject:
Teaching Methods

Description:
Grade inflation is, in part, because of a general philosophy of student evaluation and testing which gives over emphasis to the "observable educational objectives" so stressed by the education gurus of the day. While useful, good and meaningful evaluation of students often goes beyond what follows "The student will be able to. . ." This workshop will address some of the philosophies and give examples of student evaluation and testing that help to combat grade inflation.
