By upper elementary, students should have moved from the foundation of “learning to read” into the more complex situation of “reading to learn”. However, this is not always reality since many students have not acquired the skills needed to successfully navigate and comprehend content-rich text. This session will explore creative, research-driven strategies that engage students and help them develop the critical skills needed to become competent, strategic readers.
