Faculty Liaison

A main mission of the Mack Library is to support the BJU curriculum and the teaching efforts of the faculty. Therefore it is important to maintain communication between the library and the faculty. Mack Library has four main ways to share information with faculty: the Faculty Awareness Program, the Faculty Request Program, the Faculty Notification Program, and the Library Liaison Committee.

Faculty Awareness

Under the Faculty Awareness Program, the Periodicals department sends to academic deparments lists of holdings for journals of interest to their subject areas. In addition, faculty can request to receive photocopied tables of contents from journals that are especially important to their teaching and research.

Faculty Requests

Faculty are encouraged to submit requests and recommendations for materials which should be added to the library collection. Requests should be directed to the appropriate subject specialist at the library.

Faculty Notification

The Faculty Notification Program alerts faculty to new books in their subject areas. When a faculty member has requested that a certain book be added to the collection, he or she receives a notification card when the book is ready to use.

Faculty Liaison Committee

This committee was established as a forum for faculty and library staff to share ideas, problems, and questions. Representatives from various campus departments join librarians in open discussions to channel information and concerns between the library and the faculty.
