Thanksgiving at BJU

Much like Thanksgiving dinner is an array of delicious turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole and more, the season of Thanksgiving offers the University family and guests a variety of exciting events to attend.

Nov. 18–21 — Great Expectations

The Bob Jones University Classic Players present this adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Victorian novel Great Expectations, the story of an orphan boy who inherits a mysterious fortune. This event is open to the public. Purchase tickets online or call 864.770.1372.

Nov. 21 — Turkey Bowl 5K Run

The Turkey Bowl 5K Run, sponsored by the Alumni Association, is Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. This year’s proceeds will go to the Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund. Eligible to run are BJU alumni, faculty/staff, present BJU and BJA students, and family members of runners. Cost: Current BJU/BJA Student — $10; Non-student — $20

Nov. 21 — Turkey Bowl

The top American and National League men’s soccer teams square off in the season’s culmination of team effort. The pre-game show begins at 6:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium, and the game begins at 7. Of course, what Turkey Bowl would be complete without the much-anticipated halftime show? This event is free and open to the public.

Nov. 23 — Thanksgiving Praise Service

The Thanksgiving Praise Service held at 11 a.m. in Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium is the last chapel before Thanksgiving break. Congregational songs supplemented with multimedia, a vocal ensemble and orchestra, scripture meditations and testimonies all focus on Who God is and what that means for His children. This event is free and open to the public.

Nov. 26 — Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving dinner will be held in the Varsity Room of the Dining Common from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Delicious turkey and dressing, rice, gravy, vegetables, cranberry sauce and Parkerhouse rolls will be served. Meal tickets may be purchased at the Dining Common.
