BJU announces women’s basketball coach

Mike LeViere

Bob Jones University athletic director Neal Ring has announced that Mike LeViere will join the Bob Jones University athletics staff as head women’s basketball coach and intramural director.

LeViere has twelve years of experience in coaching basketball on both the high school and college levels. Most recently he served as athletic director and basketball coach at Cross Lanes Christian School in Charleston, W.Va., and previous to that as a faculty member and head women’s basketball coach at Northland International University, Dunbar, Wis. At Northland, he built a winning program and led the women’s basketball team to be runner-up regional champion in 2002. He was named the Northern Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year in 2000.

LeViere’s oversight of the women’s basketball program will include managing and developing the coaching staff as well as training and recruiting qualified student-athletes.

“Mike is an excellent coach who models Christ to his athletes,” says Coach Ring. “He has successfully developed quality, competitive basketball programs, and he is a gifted athletic administrator, whose experience will help guide our intramural program through this time of transition.”

As intramural director, LeViere will manage the organization and planning for all BJU society sports events. “I am confident that Mike will provide valuable insight as we blend intramural and intercollegiate sports into one department,” says Coach Ring. With a degree in Sport Studies from Central Michigan University and experience as an athletic director, LeViere is well-prepared to manage the intramural program.

LeViere starts his new position June 4.
