Student Expectations

When you arrive on campus as a student, you will be given a student handbook and will attend throughout the first week various orientation sessions that will explain how the policies apply to you. Throughout your student years the philosophy behind the policies will be explained through chapel services, Bible classes, Freshman Orientation class, residence hall meetings, and one-on-one conversations with faculty/staff members and student leaders.

Our handbook policies promote personal and social orderliness in an educational, resident setting. They teach what placing others first looks like on this campus. In addition, they promote holy living by removing as much as possible the influences of worldliness and evil from a student’s life while he learns to walk in the Spirit.

Keep in mind that God’s primary purpose for you—and ours for you as well—is to see you develop in your likeness and usefulness to Jesus Christ. Every policy and, with God’s help, every interaction you have with a faculty/staff member or student leader is designed with that end in mind. If you sincerely desire spiritual growth, you will be excited to see how much progress you can make in this Christ-centered environment.

With that in mind, let’s cover some general expectations that will give you a flavor of BJU.

If you have further questions, your admissions counselor will be glad to answer them for you since we cannot send you the entire student handbook before you enroll. We want you to feel at home at BJU, and there will be many people around you once you arrive here who will help you adjust to the new environment God has called you to.
