Development of Christlike character is at the center of our mission at BJU, and it’s the core of our leadership development program.
Starting your very first year of school, you’ll have opportunities to gain leadership experience—in student organizations, through outreach teams and more—and to learn indispensable leadership skills such as communication and problem-solving.
Being a Leader
Being a leader is not about telling people what to do. True leadership is about who you are, not just what you can do. A critical aspect of leadership is service. When Christ washed the disciples’ feet, He demonstrated the supreme model of servant-leadership that is so opposed to our natural inclinations. Servant-leadership must be learned and practiced. Self-discipline, integrity, dependability and compassion for others are also keys.
Habit of Excellence
BJU challenges you to exceed your own expectations and grow through a broad range of leadership-building activities. A disciplined pursuit of excellence is simply how the BJU community approaches all we do. We strive to perform at a consistently high level—and making a habit of excellence now will set you apart from the crowd later.
Training for Life
BJU’s emphasis on character and the many opportunities provided for leadership development are designed to last far beyond your college years because leadership plays a part in all of life. We want you to graduate prepared for and committed to a lifetime of humble servant-leadership in all facets of life—your career, your family, your church and your community.
