Marshall Franklin

Contact Mr. Franklin

Marshall Franklin came to BJU from a 24-year career at Ernst & Young, where he began as an auditor and later joined a leadership team in an advisory services venture focused on risk management. The team grew the business to regional revenues of over $100 million in nine years. A partner for nearly 12 years, Franklin was located in Ernst & Young’s Paris office during his last three years with the company—leading growth in its Europe, Middle East, India and Africa divisions. He became a global expert in leading change, negotiations and risk management.

A longtime friend of the University, Franklin served for eight years in several volunteer capacities at BJU—including as a member of the Cooperating Board of Trustees, the President’s Advisory Council and the BJU Press Consulting Group. Responding in faith to the Lord’s call to serve at BJU full-time starting in 2011, he brought the discipline of business and a warm heart for ministry. He spends considerable time investing in the lives of students. Whether playing basketball in the early morning or having a meal with students in the dining common, few days go by without his mentoring students.

As the executive vice president for operations, Franklin assists the president in setting the strategic direction for the University. He provides leadership by implementing strategy for BJU Press, the campus infrastructure, retail operations and business functions (including finance, human resources and technology systems).

Franklin also serves on the boards for the Greenville Area Development Corporation, Carolina Alliance Bank of Spartanburg, South Carolina and The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in Brevard, North Carolina.

Franklin earned a BS in professional accounting at BJU in 1987. He and his wife live in Greenville and are members of Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, S.C.; they have 3 adult children.
