Test of English for Admission
TOEFL, IELTS, or E3PT
If your primary language is not English, we require you to take an English exam for admission to BJU. We accept the TOEFL, the IELTS, or the English 3 (E3PT) for admission. Which test you take is your choice; we recommend that you study in advance using preparation materials online so you can demonstrate your best ability. We require official results reported to BJU directly from the test administrator. Consider that scoring time for TOEFL is 10–14 days, scoring time for the IELTS is 5–7 days, and scoring time for the E3PT is 1–5 business days.

Undergraduate Requirements
- You should earn a TOEFL iBT score of 61 with minimum section scores of 15 to demonstrate your ability to study successfully at the university undergraduate level; or an IELTS score of 6.0 with minimum section scores of 6.0; or an E3PT score of 62 with section scores of 15.
- To qualify for the Bridge to College English (BCE) program, you should earn a TOEFL score of 48 on the iBT with minimum section scores of 10; or an IELTS score of 5.5 with minimum section scores of 5.5; or an E3PT score of 58, section scores of 10.
Graduate Requirements (Master’s degree)
- You should earn a TOEFL iBT score of 79 with minimum section scores of 19; or an IELTS score of 6.5 with minimum section scores of 6.5; or an E3PT score of 72 with section scores of 16.
- To qualify for BCE, you should earn a TOEFL iBT score of 62 with minimum section scores of 15; or an IELTS score of 6.0 with minimum section scores of 6.0; or E3PT score of 62 with section scores of 13.
PhD Program
- You should earn a TOEFL iBT score of 100 with minimum section scores of 23; or an IELTS score of 7.0 with minimum section scores of 7.0; or an E3PT score of 82 with section scores of 20.
