Steve grew up in the Chicago area, and during high school, he felt God moving in his heart to become a pastor. He graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College in 1996 and then went on to Heart of America Theological Seminary in Independence, Mo.
Following seminary, Steve had the opportunity to be an assistant pastor in the Chicago area for seven years. Then God led him to become head pastor in a suburb of Kansas City, Kan., where he served for ten years. For nine of those years, he also served as a police officer in his community.
Steve is married to Sally Hermann, and they have three children—Tyler, Alison and Luke.
