Speaker’s Bureau

Good Strategy or Bad Ethics?

Speaker:
Dr. Denny Scott

Subject:
Athletics/Physical Fitness

Description:
Ethical behavior on the part of a coach involves observing not only the rules of a particular game, but more importantly, a level of conduct according to the true spirit of the game or the “unwritten rules” that are also an integral part of every sport. Athletic participation provides one of the greatest opportunities for a student to learn honesty, integrity, the need to obey rules, and ethical behavior. On the other hand, sports can also provide opportunities to learn how to cheat and to be dishonest, hypocritical, and unethical. What are you communicating to your athletes?
