Jeffrey Stegall, MA, is an Associate Professor in the Theatre Arts Department and teaches a variety of classes including Acting, Scene Design, and Costume Design. He also teaches a graduate course in theatre collaboration. After graduating from Welch College in 1984, he taught high school for a year before attending graduate school at Bob Jones University. Further graduate studies included various theatre courses at The University of Oklahoma and acting instruction at The National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City. He also enjoys continued coaching from theatre professionals in Chicago and New York City. For over two decades he has been an actor, director, and the principal designer for the University Classic Players and has also directed and served as principal designer for the University Opera Association. He has performed over 40 acting roles, directed nearly 50 programs including plays, operas, vespers, concerts, recitals, and one-man shows, and designed over 30 new productions. (He designed two operas that received awards from the National Opera Association.)
In addition to his university responsibilities, he is the founder and president of The Greenville Shakespeare Company, a local nonprofit organization that exists to provide the Upstate of South Carolina and surrounding areas with high quality, accessible productions of Shakespeare and other classic works of literature and thereby expand and enhance cultural opportunities in the area; and to share these works of literature with area young people through educational enrichment opportunities as a real-life complement to literature studies; and to provide young artists training/internships.
Jeffrey is married to Kim (Yost) Stegall, who writes and edits a Christian teen news magazine, TRAK, for World News Group, publishers of World Magazine. They have two children. Margaret is a freshman at Bob Jones University, and Cole is a junior at Bob Jones Academy. The Stegalls attend Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, where Kim and Jeffrey are involved with writing and coaching in the teen drama ministry.
