Matt Black

Matt is available year-round to preach in church services or school chapels, to hold teen rallies, and to present BJU.

Matt is originally from Oak Forest, Illinois, though he spent much of his growing up years in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He is one of six children and has a twin sister. He studied theology and Spanish and graduated from Bob Jones University in 1996. He also has a master of arts degree in biblical counseling. Matt is also certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). He was a missionary to Spain for eight years and a pastor in the Chicago area for 18 years.

Matt is married to the former Jill Wenger, and they have five children—Katie (2021 grad), Kristen (2023 grad), William (BJU student), Evan, and Ava.
