Part 1: Move to Learn: How Creative Movement Builds Understanding from the Inside Out. In this workshop (part one of two) we will examine and apply current research findings on the power of creative movement to aid learning, particularly social-emotional learning, in the early childhood classroom. Together, we will try out easy and fun games and activities that build basic number sense, oral language, phonemic awareness, social and self-regulation skills. Part 2: Moving Math: How Creative Movement Can Increase Children’s Engagement and Deepen Their Understanding In this workshop (part two of two) we will learn basic principles of creative movement/dance and why and how this art form can be easily integrated in the early childhood classroom. We will explore the basic elements of time, space, energy, and body and create our own unique creative interpretations to demonstrate understanding of basic properties of addition/subtraction/multiplication/division and whole number operations
