One Voice: A Black History Narrative with Jeremiah Dew

Feb 21, Sat 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Stratton Hall

One Voice is a celebration of the contributions of important black figures in American history from the time of the African slave trade to the election of our first black American president, Barack Obama. Jeremiah Dew brings to the stage the voices of Frederick Douglass, James Weldon Johnson, Martin Luther King Jr. and Muhammad Ali.

Also presented will be video interviews from Dr. Margaree Seawright Crosby, professor emeritus at Clemson University, who tells the story of the “Greenville 8,” a group of students who participated in a sit-in at the Greenville Public Library, which led to the integration of the library system. Jeremiah’s interview with Wilfred Walker Sr., long-time teacher at Sterling High School, illuminates further the struggles of the Civil Rights movement right here in Greenville.

Tickets are $5 each and go on sale Saturday, February 7. Call (864) 770-1372 for details.
