Exam Information
Final Examinations – Last Class Day
The last class day for all undergraduate residential courses (except music lessons) is the final exam period of final exam week at the end of each semester.
Exam Periods/Schedule
- In StudentCentral on the first-class day each semester, students have access to both a list and grid view of their current semester final exam schedule (Academic menu option).
- No final exam will be given at a time other than what is specified for the exam schedule. (Exception: the division of music will give instructions for music lesson exams)
- Each exam period will be held in the regularly scheduled classroom and will be 70 minutes duration.
- Classes that meet on any schedule other than MWF or TTh should be examined based on the first day and first hour the class meets each week.
- Classes that meet for extended periods should be examined:
- Either during the part of the class period that meets for the first full hour or at the top of the hour. (i.e., MW 9:30 a.m. classes follow MWF 10 a.m. class time)
- Or on the preceding half hour. (i.e., TTh 10 a.m. classes follow TTh 9:30 a.m. class time)
Exam Changes and Approval/Rescheduling Process
Students must take exams during the scheduled day and/or time for their class/section. Any changes, before or after, the scheduled day or time must be approved. Exam Change Request approval forms are available through the Registrar’s Office at the Student Services Hub. Exam times cannot be changed to leave early. Travel arrangements must be made according to when students may leave at the end of the semester based upon exam schedule, required activities or work obligations.
Reschedule Guidelines
- Exams taken early may not be given prior to the first day of the week of final exams.
- Exams taken late must be completed prior to the grade reporting deadline.
Reschedule Purpose | Approval By | Exam Change Request form+ | Reschedule Parameters |
---|---|---|---|
Four or more exams (12 or more credits) scheduled on same day | Student Services Hub | Once approved, student gives to the instructor | One exam change |
Exam Changes Before/After Scheduled Day/Time | Registrar | Once approved, student gives to the instructor |
Not prior to 1st day of final exam week Completed prior to the grade reporting deadline |
+ Instructor submits approved form with exam to Testing at the Academic Resource Center or schedules proctor time individually or with another class section.
Any student who misses a final exam will earn a grade of zero for the exam unless registrar approval is given to take the exam late due to legitimate reasons.
