About
Kerry is passionate about helping his students become diligent students, effective interpreters, and clear communicators of God's Word. He teaches a freshman-level introduction to preaching class as well as three upper-level homiletics courses. His goal is to instill in students an expository philosophy of ministering the Word and to give them step-by-step help in moving from text to sermon. He also oversees the high school preaching conference held on campus each November. This past summer he completed his Doctor of Ministry degree. His dissertation was entitled, "A Philosophy and Methodology for Preaching an Expository Book Series Governed by Apostolic Purpose and Based on Rhetorical Analysis: A Case Study of 1 Peter." Kerry's passion for teaching preaching comes from years of experience. He spent four summers as a college student working as an ministerial intern in four different churches. He has preached the gospel across the United States in itinerant ministry and throughout Europe on mission teams. In addition to being a regular Sunday School teacher and elder at his former church, he now serves as the pastor of Beth Haven Baptist Church in Simpsonville. Kerry also blogs about preaching at www.preachingandpreachers.com.
