Overview
In today’s media-saturated world, you’re more than just a communicator—you’re a thinker, message creator, storyteller and influencer.
With strategic communication, you’ll dive into the art and science of communication from a biblical perspective so that you’ll be equipped to craft powerful and purposeful messaging in any business or ministry setting. You’ll gain industry-valued skills such as researching, writing, visual messaging and statistical analysis.
Through careful audience consideration and building good relationships with people around you, you’ll be able to effectively share compelling messages, the truth of God’s Word and your testimony for Christ.
Program
In this research-focused program, you’ll learn how to design, implement and evaluate communication strategies in a variety of business settings. You’ll apply communication principles to real-world challenges, study how its theories relate to life and solve unique communication problems using in-depth research.
And with every course rooted in Scripture, you’ll gain a biblical understanding of how to navigate ethical and effective communication with confidence.
Through immersive practice in your internship and capstone course, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience under communication professionals. You’ll be prepared to implement data-informed communication strategies and make a lasting, positive impact wherever God leads you.
BJU Core
Courses in history, technology and English will increase your ability to communicate effectively and help you appreciate different perspectives and adapt to unfamiliar situations. Your Bible courses will teach you how to apply truth to your life and strengthen your relationship with Christ.
Electives
You can focus your electives on specific areas in communication or another area of interest such as politics, health science, or marketing. You can minor in business or professional writing or get a certificate in digital media to complement your program and allow you to tailor it to your career goals.

Career Support
BJU offers students a variety of ways to network with employers and organizations. A multitude of job opportunities are posted each year on Career Central, our online job board. In addition, more than 60 businesses and 150 Christian schools/mission boards/Christian organizations come on campus to recruit students through on-campus interviews and job/ministry fairs.
Career Services also helps students by holding seminars on resume preparation and interview techniques.

Through student-run organizations such as Lambda Pi Eta, the Advertising and Marketing Associations, The Collegian (student-run newspaper) and the Vintage yearbook, you’ll have opportunities to use communication in a structured team setting and develop your leadership skills. These valuable, hands-on experiences will prepare you for fast-paced careers in both print and digital mediums.

Program Objectives
Each student will:
- Analyze communication discipline from a biblical perspective.
- Apply research methods and theories of communication to effectively and ethically address and solve communication problems.
- Analyze and apply principles of communication in public, organizational, or interpersonal settings, demonstrating the ability to strategically convey messages and achieve specific communication goals.
- Utilize industry-specific skills to develop and execute communication strategies effectively in order to achieve specific goals (strategic writing, visual communication, research, etc.).
