One of the main jobs of the preschool teacher is to prepare students for school. One of the primary factors in school readiness is the development of cognitive structures. And one of the primary ways that cognitive structures are developed is through play. This workshop will discuss the importance of nonacademic activities in the preschool classroom and give ideas for potential activities and experiences that will give children opportunities to develop these fundamental cognitive structures.
