Todd Jones

Dr. Todd Jones is an adjunct instructor on the music faculty at Bob Jones University (BJU), where his primary teaching responsibilities include music history and applied voice. He works with undergraduate and graduate students, including individuals enrolled in the Master of Music Education (MME) program. He holds a PhD from the University of Kentucky (Musicology & Ethnomusicology, 2017).

In his capacity at BJU, Jones instructs students in private vocal studios, focusing on vocal pedagogy, repertoire development, and physical technique. His music history courses cover the chronological development of Western music, historical context, and stylistic analysis, providing foundational knowledge for students pursuing degrees in performance and music education. Through his work with MME candidates, he instructs current and future music teachers in vocal instruction methods.

Todd's collegiate teaching career includes service at multiple institutions. In addition to his current role at BJU, he has worked as a music instructor at the University of Kentucky, Greenville Technical College, and International Baptist College (Chandler, AZ).

 

Alongside his academic schedule, Todd holds a full-time pastoral position at Morningside Baptist Church in Greenville. His duties at the church include serving on the pastoral team, music staff team, and office staff team, as well as overseeing Morningside's senior adults ministry. Todd's hobbies include passionate (but realistic) support for University of Kentucky teams and participating in BJU's opera productions.

Todd's career centers on the intersection of collegiate music education and church administration. He and his wife, Lorna, met during their undergraduate studies. They reside in Greenville and have four children. Todd's passion for helping others grow in wisdom and in the Christian life often returns to Proverbs 9:10: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."
