BSN Fast Track
Dual Enrollment
Save time getting your BSN degree and start working as an RN faster. Complete your BSN in 3 to 3.5 years by earning up to 30 college credits after your high school sophomore year. Students on this pathway must be at least 18 years old when they begin BJU's nursing courses and must meet both BJU admission and Nursing Candidacy Acceptance to Clinical Nursing Courses.
Nursing Candidacy Acceptance to Clinical Nursing Courses
Admission to nursing clinical courses is competitive. Therefore, students must meet the minimum requirements as designated below in order to be considered for placement into clinical courses. Please note that meeting the following minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee admission into clinical courses. The "preferred" grades/scores noted in each of the requirements below indicate what is typically necessary for students to gain admission to clinical courses and to succeed in the Nursing program as a whole.
- Successful completion of the following courses with a final grade of C- or above (preferred: A or B): Bio 102 Principles of Biology, either Bio 303 or 304 Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Chm 105 Foundations of Chemistry. These courses all require corresponding, in-person labs.
- Successful completion of the ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) — TEAS Nursing Pre-Admission Test (offered each semester). Students with an Academic Preparedness Level of Proficient or higher will be given first priority for admission into clinical nursing courses.
- GPA: Student must maintain a grade point average of 2.75 or above at Bob Jones University or from another institution where dual enrollment was earned.
- Interview with the division chair to review above requirements and discuss next steps.
Optional Recommendation for Acceptance into Clinical Nursing Courses
Students in nursing programs must take frequent standardized tests during and after program completion. For this reason, we strongly recommend our students take a standardized test prior to enrollment to identify strengths and weaknesses in this area. If students have no scores for the ACT, SAT or CLT prior to enrollment at BJU, the University may require placement testing per their policy. ACT Examination: scores of 20 or above on the math, science and composite areas. The preferred composite ACT score is >23.

Fast Track Plan

Brooke Whitney
I came into the Bob Jones Nursing Program with my first year of prerequisites finished. I was able to take the entrance TEAS test and start right into the program as a sophomore. This meant jumping right into nursing-specific courses and clinicals. I couldn’t have done it without my parents and advisors. They were able to help me take college credit plus courses that lined up with BJU’s program and requirements but also counted as my high school credits. It was a lot of work in high school and made for a different-from-normal experience, but I am about to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing after three years instead of four. It was one of the best decisions I have made this far in my life and is worth considering if you are interested in the nursing program at BJU!
Transfer Work: Prior approval for transfer work from another institution should be evaluated by the Registrar's Office to ensure it is equivalent or could substitute for a required course. Contact the Associate Registrar for Transfer Students.
Note: Earning college credits prior to enrollment at BJU may impact future financial aid if the 3–3.5 year plan is not followed. For continued full-time Financial Aid eligibility and/or residence hall requirements, each semester students must be enrolled in at least 12 credits of required courses (i.e., major, BJU Core) for the degree program. The Fast Track plans are based upon current degree requirements for the BSN as listed in the Bob Jones University Undergraduate Catalog.
ATI-TEAS Pre-Admission Exam: This may be taken either in-person or remote on line and is proctored by Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) or an institution. For additional information visit www.atitesting.com.
